For the two line user, there are multiple services that allow you to configure phone lines so they ring in order or even ring some, and send some to voice mail. Google bought one of them (Grand Central) that last I knew was free, and there was a recent announcement of a competitor with “visual voice mail”, etc.

With the simultaneous ring function provided by Packet8 Voip, I answer three different numbers on my cell phone at any time, or answer them on the line originally dialed. One cell phone, unlimited incoming numbers.

Walt, this is a great column given all the issues users are experiencing with their MacBook Airs. Overheating etc.. Myself, I’ve gone through 3 replacement units, leaving me on my 4th MacBook Air in less than 1.5 months.

You can forward your calls from your secondary phone to your primary phone. This lets you carry only one device for voice calls but you cannot forward SMS messages.
